Metal Stain Removal
Based on 10,000 gallons
Day 1
- Add one quart (32 oz. /10,000 gallons) of MSI Metal & Scale Inhibitor*
- Add Citric or Ascorbic Acid 1#
- Brush stained areas of the pool
- Lower pH to 7.2
- Use the Next Generation LSI calculator to adjust water chemistry to attain a balanced LSI.
Days 2, 3 and 4
- *Add one gallon of liquid chlorine (1 gal. /10,000 gallons)
- Maintain 7.2 – 7.3 pH, while maintaining LSI value as close to 0.00 as possible.
- Brush stained areas of the pool
*MSI purge dose will wipe out chlorine levels. Each following day, adding chlorine is necessary.
Week 2 & beyond
- Start MSI weekly maintenance (3 oz. /10,000 gallons) until stains are gone.
- After 10-14 days, stain precipitous should be evident in the filter. Clean the filter as necessary (usually 2-3 times) over the course of the next week to remove the residue.
Optional:
- Add AAD Enzyme purge dose (32 oz. /10,000 gallons)
- Start AAD Enzyme weekly maintenance the following week (5-10 oz. /10,000 gallons)
- Remove phosphates with CPR (4 oz. /10,000 gallons), applied only as needed. Allow 24-48 hours for reaction to complete, then vacuum to waste and clean filter.
- To speed up phosphate reaction, try CCE Clarifier (4 oz. /10,000 gallons).
